BOTGC at Gloucester Cathedral

Welcome!

Welcome to The Band of the Gloucestershire Constabulary website.

About us...

The Band of the Gloucestershire Constabulary was formed on March 1st 1990 and is comprised of serving and retired members of the regular Force, Specials, civilian staff and members of their families, together with a handful of musicians best described as "known to the police".

We are privileged to have performed at some of the county's most prestiguous venues - from Gloucester Cathedral to Highgrove House, Cheltenham Race Course and Gatcombe Park to Kingsholm, and at local events - from Remembrance to RIAT, Bands in the Park to Christmas Carols. Several radio broadcasts, together with tours to France, Germany, Luxembourg and Holland have assured a widening audience and the Band is now firmly established on the county's concert circuit.

We are very proud to have performed for many charities and support organisations - proceeds from concerts are reckoned to be well in excess of £100,000.

Conductor: Sue Mills

Our Musical Director is Sue Mills, well known in the Cheltenham area as a brass teacher and for developing the standard of local brass band playing through her conductor-ship of Cheltenham Youth Brass and Gloucester Excelsior bands.

It is also worth a mention that three band members are 16 years of age or younger - a point which Band Chairman, Inspector Paul Menhenick, likes to make in case members of the audience feel that Policemen are looking younger than ever these days! They're not, they just have children...
